Water Bioremediation
The developed economies of the world are heavily dependent upon fuels derived from crude oil, coal and gas. Access to these energy reserves is increasingly costly and logistically challenging.
Whilst the practice of recycling commodities is well established – the extension of that ethic to the energy sector has been mostly overlooked – until now.
MBD’s Algal Synthesis technology now allows major users of coal and gas – such as power stations, smelters and refineries to recycle their carbon emissions.
Instead of going into the atmosphere, a portion of these gases can be captured at the smokestack and synthesised into biomass suitable for the manufacture of biofuels including biodiesel, ethanol, and jetfuel – potentially boosting energy security.
Having been produced from captured CO2 that was prevented from entering the atmosphere as waste flue-gas, algal biofuel can be offset against consumption of conventional fossil fuels. Thus, use of this form of biofuel instead of ordinary petrol, diesel and aviation fuel has the potential to result in significant reduction in the levels of atmospheric carbon.
Based on current successful trials at MBD’s pilot, research and development facility at James Cook University, the company’s scientific and technical advisors have concluded that every million tonnes of captured and recycled industry CO2 can generate about $250 million in earnings from the sales of transport oil and animal meal sales.
