Eraring Power Station

Eraring Power Station is situated north of Sydney on the Central Coast of New South Wales. A black coal fired power station comprising 4 x 660 Megawatt units delivering a combined capacity of 2,640 Megawatts (MW), Eraring power station is owned and operated by Eraring Energy – a State owned Corporation.

MBD Energy and Eraring Energy presently have two CO2 to Energy Algal Synthesis projects planned for Eraring. One is a facility that will see algae grown from captured and reticulated waste CO2 for briquette production (at trial quantities) for use in place of burning coal to heat the power station’s boilers.

The second involves growth of higher value algae strains for production of high-worth Omega-3 and Omega-6 type oils suitable for human consumption.

The MBD Energy Limited Eraring Project design and development team are using the knowledge being gained from the construction of the 1 Hectare CO2 to Energy Algal Synthesiser Plant at Tarong to help expedite progress at Eraring Power Station.

MBD Energy and Eraring Energy expect to make announcements concerning the next phase of development in coming months.
