Eraring Commercial Overview
MBD’s primary focus at present is firmly on capitalising upon its world-leading micro-algae based technologies at Tarong Power Station and then translating that CO2 to Energy conversion knowhow to Eraring Power Station.
The Company’s business consists of two separate yet integrated streams of algae project activity:
- Those that are Micro-algae based; and
- Those that are Macro-algae based.
MBD has assembled an experienced, integrated scientific, engineering and project development and construction team for its projects.
The development of the company’s process and projects draws upon 30 years of scientific research at James Cook University (JCU), Townsville, Queensland and other research and development experiences around the world.
MBD and its R&D team at JCU are regarded internationally as being at the forefront of efforts to use algae biomass as a form of biological sequestration of carbon dioxide (CO2). The Company has entered into an exclusive strategic relationship with JCU in the form of a five year Research and Development and Intellectual Property Agreement.
MBD’s team has the knowledge and the experience to select algae strains, local to the emitter, in this case Eraring Power Station that will help maximise algal biomass yields and future earnings potential.
Based upon its advanced construction of an algal synthesiser in 3 stages at Tarong Power Station and imminent commencement of the projects at Eraring Power Station and a similar project at Loy Yang A Power Station in Victoria, MBD is considered to be at the forefront internationally of large-scale (broad acre) deployment of CO2 to Energy technology.
