Global demand for consumable proteins is soaring, creating increased demand for animal and fish feeds as feedstock to grow the animal proteins we enjoy consuming.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has identified diminishing food security as a major threat to mankind over coming decades. As the world’s population continues to grow by approximately 60 million people per year, incrementally greater strain is being placed on agricultural production.

Severe weather events, including drought and flood, have played havoc with food crops and pushed up grain and rice prices. Food riots have become an all too familiar event in some countries as more people go without.

Both micro-algae and macro-algae are already extensively used as sources of nutrition for humans and animals. The potential to expand upon existing and new markets is enormous.

The production of large volumes of Algal Biomass from recycled CO2 in MBD proprietary Algal Synthesiser membranes offers promise of a sustainable new source of nutrition for humans and animals alike. And, unlike conventional agriculture, MBD’s technology is not dependent upon favourable seasons and access to fertile farmlands in order to maintain peak productivity.
