Loy Yang Commercial Overview

MBD’s immediate focus is on constructing its world-leading micro-algae based technologies at Tarong Power Station and then transposing that CO2 to Energy project experience to other major power stations in the company’s immediate pipeline of committed projects including Loy Yang A in Victoria’s Latrobe Valley.

The Company’s business consists of two separate yet integrated streams of algae project activity:

MBD has assembled an experienced, integrated scientific, engineering and project development and construction team for its projects.

The development of the company’s process and projects draws upon 30 years of scientific research at James Cook University (JCU), Townsville, Queensland and other research and development experiences around the world.

MBD and its R&D team at JCU are regarded internationally as being at the forefront of efforts to use algae biomass as a form of biological sequestration of carbon dioxide (CO2). The Company has entered into an exclusive strategic relationship with JCU in the form of a five year Research and Development and Intellectual Property Agreement.

MBD’s team has the knowledge and the experience to select algae strains, local to the emitter, in this case Loy Yang A Power Station, that will help maximise algal biomass yields and future earnings potential.

Based upon its current advanced construction of an algal synthesiser in 3 stages at Tarong Power Station and imminent commencement of the projects at Eraring Power Station and a similar project at Loy Yang, MBD is widely recognised as an international leader of large-scale (broad acre) deployment of CO2 to Energy technology.
