Loy Yang Current Construction
MBD Energy Limited has two large-scale Algal Synthesis projects planned for Loy Yang A. One is expected to commence as a 1.5-10 Ha macro-algae project that will see algae grown from waste CO2 for briquette production as a partial fuel off-set to burning coal to heat the power station’s boilers.
The second involves construction of a 2.1-10 Ha micro-algae-based Algal Synthesiser suitable for the production of Biofuels and nutritious feed for dairy cattle. Both projects are currently undergoing further development and MBD Energy and Loy Yang Power expect to make a further announcement over coming months.
Subject to successful trials and mutual approvals, MBD Energy expects to build a large-scale CO2 to Energy Algal Synthesiser delivering abatement of approximately 50 per cent of Loy Yang A’s total CO2 emissions.
