Plastics oils
A micro algae plant is a tiny single-celled plant that may contain up to 30% oil. The rest of the plant is made up of cellulose solids and water.
MBD Energy Limited’s Algal Sequestration enables rapid growth of micro algae on a continuous basis under climate controlled conditions in large plastic membranes into which waste water and captured flue gases are injected.
Upon harvesting it is possible to extract oil from this algal biomass. Tests have revealed that the algal oil is well suited to use as a polymer feedstock for the production of bioplastics.
Algal SequestrationAlgal Sequestration utilises abundant sunlight, captured flue gases, and waste water to grow valuable algal biomass on a large scale and on a continuous and fully enclosed and controlled basis.Read more ∇ |
‘BAGS’ SystemMBD has developed its own method of culturing photosynthetic organisms for large scale production. The ‘BAGS’ system is a unique solution to to large scale algae cultivation and harvest.Read more ∇ |
