Current Construction at Tarong
The MBD Site Project Engineering team has completed earthworks and services provisioning for the installation of a 1 hectare CO2 to Energy Algal Synthesiser at Tarong Power Station.
The 1 hectare modular layout has been designed as the first section of a much larger Stage 2 array occupying 80 hectares or more.
Great care has been taken in levelling the 1 hectare site so that minimal amounts of energy are required to move water containing the micro-algae harvest through the algal synthesiser as the algal biomass grows.
Over coming weeks and months an initial array of MBD Energy vertical growth columns and ‘BAGS’ proprietary membranes will be deployed ahead of commissioning before October.
Strains of micro-algae local to Tarong Power Station have been selected for growth in order to help protect local biodiversity. MBD's technology does not use genetically modified algae.
